New Western NY IPM Area Educator: NY IPM has hired Julie Stavisky . Julie will be based at the Wayne County , will deal with livestock, field and forage crop IPM implementation programs in western New York.
Senator Hoffmann receives "Friend of IPM" award: Senator Nancy Larraine Hoffmann (R–49th), who chairs the Senate Agriculture Committee and raises beef cattle on her Onondaga County farm, has received the Friend of IPM Award, the highest honor given by the New York State Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program. The award recognizes outstanding efforts of individuals who encourage the practice of “IPM”—dealing with insects, weeds, and diseases in ways that pose minimal economic, environmental, and human health risks.
In recent years, Hoffmann’s support has helped the NYS IPM Program to continue a grants program and reach out to growers in a number of ways, such as posting pest-management guidelines on the web, offering electronic weather information, and developing record-keeping software that helps apple growers meet market demands. From 2001–2003, in part with support from Senator Hoffmann, the NYS IPM Program funded 128 projects focused on improved methods for producers. The Jan 8 press release should be on the NY IPM website by Monday, January 12.

NEPMC On Target is "new and improved" version of the for NEPMC Insider.
A web page with the address http://nepmc.org/insider/current.html always holds the most recent issue.
Archived issues can be found either by going to http://nepmc.org/insider/index.html OR at a url in the form "http://nepmc.org/insider/archive/yyyy/mmmyyyy.html", where "mmm" is 3 letter abbreviation for the month and "yyyy" is four digit year designation. For example, to find the August 2002 issue, go to http://nepmc.org/insider/archive/2002/aug2002.html . The "current" issue is archived immediately - it appears not only as "current" but also in the archives as "archive/yyyy/mmmyyyy.html"
As of the January, 2003 issue we are now numbering issues using volume (2001=1, 2002=2, etc.) and number (Jan=1, Feb=2, etc.) We may retroactively renumber previous issues using this system.
A list of links to all issues can be found at http://neipmc.org/news_ontargetarchiveindex.cfm
