PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Maine Board of Pesticides Control 1989 to present

  • Written and oral presentation of hazard reviews and risk assessments for pesticide active ingredients and non-pesticide food safety issues. Staff to the Medical Advisory Committee, Pesticide Indoor Use Advisory Committee, and Environmental Risk Advisory Committee of the Board of Pesticides Control
  • Coordinated public information regarding insecticides used to control the Browntail Moth in the coastal areas of Maine in conjunction with the Maine Forest Service;
  • Survey developed to determine the general public's pesticide use habits. Maine Horticultural shows in 1994 and the Eastern States Exposition in 1997.
  • University of Maine Cooperative Extension Food Safety Team,
  • Consultant to Maine Poison Control Center, analysis of the Poison Center Pesticides Calls
  • Member of the State wide committee developing a Lyme Tick Disease Policy, and West Nile Virus Interagency Working Group, coordinated pesticide mosquito spraying issues for the state of Maine.
  • State FIFRA Research and Evaluation Group Representative on the Rodenticide Stakeholders Working Group.

Massachusetts Pesticide Bureau 1985 to 1989

  • Project manager for the environmental fate and toxicological reviews of ten herbicides for use on rights-of-way in sensitive areas.
  • Project officer for the Risk Assessment contract between the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture and the University of Massachusetts, Division of Public Health.
  • Technical support for review of the Gypsy Moth Environmental Impact Statement for the Department of Environmental Management.
